Fixing Folder Options missing in Windows XP
After a virus attack in one of my client machines, the folder options from the windows explorer was missing and we were unable to show all the files including the hidden ones. So here’s what I did to restore it back:
Go to Run –>gpedit.msc
User Configuration –> Administrative Templates –> Windows Components –> Windows Explorer
Enable and then Disable “Removes Folder Options menu from Tools menu”
Close all windows explorer windows and then open again.. most probably your folder options is back
!, I want to display Hidden files from my pc that uses WinXP. However, I cant do it coz Tools/Folder Options is missing from Windows Exlorer. The Folder Options folder also is not avaialble form Control Panel.
i guess a virus may have infected the pc coz whenever I leave the pc idle on for a short time (e.g. 15min. or so ), I get alert message from my anti-virus software (McAffe) that a virus named W32/Rontokbro.gen@MM was detected and deleted from C:_restore{FEC9B524-0FBC-4D1A-… folderAND infected the file named A0014181.exe located in the C partition.
I want to remove this folder (_restore) manually but cant have access to it coz its hidden. pleez help.

- Fixing & Repairing windows-xp fastOne of the best kept secrets of Windows XP is its built in repair feature! In previous versions of Windows, correcting an operating system error, or installing a new motherboard, usually meant formating and reinstalling, resulting in loss of all data. Dont worry; Windows XP repair feature wont delete your data, installed programs, personal information, or settings. It just repairs the operating system!Note: The system repair function will remove any updates you have previously installed that are not included on the CD. Drivers will also be reverted to their original XP versions, as well as some settings (network & performance settings may sometimes be reset to their defaults). It may be necessary to reactivate your Windows XP as well. When finished, you will have to download all of the updates from Microsoft Windows Update, because they are all replaced during repair....
